(Gaza-25/9/2014) PRCS received at its premises in Gaza City an Ecuadorian diplomatic delegation chaired by the country’s assistant Secretary of State Juan Meriguet-martinez. The delegation, which brought humanitarian aid to Palestinians affected by the latest Israeli attack, visited towns that were shelled and massively destroyed, including Eastern Rafah, Khuza’a and Al Qarara, as well as the Society’s branch in Khan Younis and PRCS’ Al Amal hospital.
At a joint press conference held in front of PRCS’ Al Quds Hospital in Gaza City, Dr. Khalil Abo Foul, Head of PRCS’ Disaster Management Unit in the Gaza Strip, welcomed the Ecuadorian delegation. He conveyed to its members the greetings of both PRCS’ President Dr. Younis Al Khatib and its Director General Dr. Khaled Joudeh, and underlined efforts made by Ecuador to support Palestinians in general and the victims of the latest Israeli attack in particular. “This visit will help ease the suffering of affected families whose homes and properties were destroyed”, he added.
Mr. Juan Meriguet lauded PRCS’ efforts in the humanitarian and health fields as well as its relentless endeavors to provide relief to wounded and affected Palestinians. He said he was appalled by the large-scale destruction of homes in the Gaza Strip, underlining his country’s continuous cooperation with PRCS with a view to assisting all affected families and supporting PRCS’ staff and volunteers in this regard.
Following the press conference, delegation members toured PRCS’ Al Quds Hospital where they were briefed about the services it provides as well as its needs and challenges facing it. They also visited injured Palestinians treated at the hospital.
