PRCS Inaugurates New Wards at Al Amal Hospital in Khan Younis

(Gaza - 19/12/2015): PRCS inaugurated a state-of-the-art Gynecology and Obstetrics Ward and an Inpatient Surgical Ward at its Al Amal Hospital in Khan Younis (Gaza Strip). The two wards will be manned by a specialized medical team.


PRCS’ President Dr. Younis Al Khatib and its Director General Dr. Khaled Joudeh attended the inauguration ceremony alongside key PRCS’ figures in the Gaza Strip. They received detailed information about the hospital’s work and improvements to be expected thanks to the new wards and equipment.


Dr. Al Khatib and Dr. Joudeh also inaugurated the new Al Amal City kindergarten for children with disabilities that is to serve approximately 80 disabled children. They then attended the ceremony held to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities organized by PRCS/Khan Younis under the banner “I am full of energy despite my disability”. The ceremony featured literary and artistic events with the participation of children from PRCS’ Rehabilitation Center and Children’s Open Studio.


Al Khatib underlined the important role played by persons with disabilities in their communities thanks to their determination and willpower. “PRCS gives special attention to persons with disabilities and involves them in all its educational, artistic and sports activities. Disabled persons play an active role in PRCS’ programs”, he said, and called on the local community to grant more attention to this category of the population by implementing all laws and by-laws that aim at integrating them in society as well as at enabling them to be active and ensuring their self-fulfillment.


At the end of the ceremony, the PRCS’ wheelchair basketball team offered the Gaza Strip Wheelchair Championship Cup which it won for the second year in a row to Dr. Al Khatib.


Dr. Al Khatib and Dr. Joudeh also met with members from the Gaza Strip Primary Health Care Department’s Safe Motherhood Committees who briefed them about their major achievements, future programs, aspirations and challenges.
