Gaza - 21/3/2016: Mr. Hiroyuki Kajita, First Secretary and Head of Economic Cooperation at the Representative Office of Japan to the Palestinian Authority, accompanied by Ms. Amelia Marzal, IFRC Representative and Mr. Khaled Abou Ghosh, PRCS’ Internal Controller, visited PRCS’ headquarters in the Gaza Strip. They were received by Dr. Bashar Mourad, PRCS’ Deputy Director General in Southern Governorates as well as by several PRCS’ department and branch directors.
The visit aimed at assessing activities undertaken by the Society’s Primary Health Care Department under the Reproductive Health and Violence Prevention Project which targets hundreds of women and children and is funded by the government of Japan through IFRC.
Work in several clinics which received medical equipment and supplies was also surveyed. Guests met shortly with PRCS’ Deputy Director General and officials from various sections and departments who discussed PRCS’ services and programs in the Gaza Strip as well as their needs and the main challenges they face in the humanitarian field.
Mr. Kajita met with and heard the success stories related by several volunteers from the Society’s Community Awareness Committees who underlined key achievements made during the past eight months. He then visited PRCS’ branch in Deir el Balah where he attended an event organized by the Reproductive Health and Violence Prevention Project and talked to schoolchildren who were delighted to benefit from the project.
Mr. Kajita toured a number of clinics operated by the branch, expressed his deep appreciation of the work done by PRCS’ teams and commended services provided by the Reproductive Health and Violence Prevention Project. He affirmed that cooperation and coordination with PRCS shall continue with a view to increasing the number of PRCS’ beneficiaries in the Gaza Strip, especially women and children.
