(Gaza - 14/8/2018): PRCS’ Disaster Management Unit concluded the fourth National Disaster Response Team camp held in Gaza City with the participation of 80 PRCS’ staff and volunteers from the Gaza Strip. The camp aimed at enhancing their capacities and building their skills in the fields of disaster management and emergency response.
The one-week camp was held under the supervision of a specialized team. It featured theoretical and practical training in the fields of shelter, water and sanitation, health during emergencies, logistical support, International Movement principles, safe access, prevention and safety, mobile medical units, evacuation as part of disaster management, psychological health and dealing with disabled persons during emergencies.
All tents, classrooms and training areas were well prepared and adapted to the camp’s themes. The last day of the camp featured a disaster simulation and exercise during which casualties were evacuated and transported. The exercise also focused on the interventions of relief teams, emergency medical personnel and National Team members.
Dr. Bashar Murad, Deputy PRCS’ Director General in southern Governorates, took the floor to thank participants and trainers on behalf of both PRCS’ President Dr. Younes Al Khatib and Director General Dr. Khaled Joudeh.
He underlined the relentless efforts made by PRCS to enhance the skills of its staff and volunteers as well as to prepare and train a specialized national team that is ready to intervene during emergencies and crises. He wished participants success in their humanitarian endeavors and in their work to allay the suffering of Palestinians.
