(Gaza - 23/8/2017): The wheelchair volleyball team from the PRCS branch in Khan Younis won the 2017 wheelchair volleyball championship which took place at Saed Sayel Sports Hall in Gaza City.
PRCS competed against the four following teams: the West Bank champions Al Mustakbal Team (Nablus), Al Jazeera Sports Club, Al Salam Club and Al Sadaka Team (Gaza Strip). PRCS won the cup with a total of 12 points, while Al Sadaka Team came in second with 9 points. Gold medals were distributed to athletes and plaques handed to teams, sponsors and organizers.
Kamel Abou Al Hassan, Sports Activities Officer at PRCS/Khan Younes, called on athletes to work harder in the future in order to enhance their skills and improve their game. He wished PRCS’ athletes and teams success in all sports disciplines.
PRCS also won the Wheelchair Table Tennis Championship organized by the Table Tennis Federation for the Disabled in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the Palestinian Paralympic Committee. PRCS, Al Jazeera, Al Salam, Deir el Balah and the Sports Complex Club Teams took part in this championship. Mohamad Shaath, a PRCS’ wheelchair table tennis champion, said: “There are no words to describe our joy. We won thanks to our team spirit and hard work”.
PRCS’ team has been training with the help of experts in the field with a view to promoting sports among people with disabilities.
