(Lebanon - 1/8/2018): PRCS’ President Dr. Younis Al Khatib visited the Society’s branch in Lebanon. The four-day visit took place during the last week of July and aimed at surveying the Society’s work, conditions, services and the development of its hospitals in the country.
Al Khatib met with several PRCS’ staff from both Lebanon and Syria who briefed him on security conditions and discussed means to enhance medical services to fully meet refugee needs. Conditions in Al Yarmook refugee camp which hosts PRCS’ Palestine Hospital were also discussed. A briefing was given on services provided by PRCS in Lebanon and on potential improvements at PRCS’ hospitals there.
Al Khatib then toured PRCS’ Safad Hospital in Al Baddawi refugee camp near Tripoli together with Dr. Samer Shihadeh, PRCS’ Director General in Lebanon, Diyab Al Awad, Head of Medical Services and Dr. Ibrahim Yassi, Hospital Director. He urged all parties involved in the construction of the hospital’s new building to do their utmost to ensure the building’s speedy conclusion and inauguration.
Dr. Al Khatib also met with Ashraf Dabbour, Palestine’s Ambassador to Lebanon, who spoke about the conditions of refugees in Lebanon and the Society’s situation in the country. Means to develop PRCS’ services were also discussed.
Finally, Al Khatib visited PRCS’ Al Hamshari Hospital in Sidon where he gave instructions to establish a cardiac catheterization ward.
