(Jerusalem- 14/8/2018): PRCS organized today a fun day for children hospitalized at Jerusalem’s Augusta Victoria hospital in the presence of PRCS’ President Dr. Younis Al Khatib, the Chair of PRCS’ branch in Jerusalem Dr. Abdallah Sabri and PRCS’ Deputy Director General for Northern Governorates Ma’moun Abbasi. The Executive Director of the hospital Mr. Waleed Nammour, its Medical Director Dr. Nidal Al Seifi and its Operational Director Dr. Atef Al Rimawi were also present, alongside the hospital’s staff, PRCS’ staff and volunteers as well as many families.
In his opening address, Mr. Nammour welcomed all attendees and congratulated PRCS on its fiftieth anniversary. He lauded services offered by PRCS and thanked it for holding such fun events for hospitalized children. Mr. Nammour also spoke about services offered by Augusta Victoria hospital to Palestinians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip despite the grave challenges facing hospitals in Jerusalem due to Israeli practices.
In his speech, Dr. Al Khatib thanked the hospital for hosting this event and for all the medical services it offers to Palestinians. “This important event coincides with the Society’s 50th anniversary and targets sick children hospitalized in one of Jerusalem’s key hospitals. It is worth recalling that even though PRCS was officially established in 1968, its roots go back to 1910 and to the city of Jerusalem. Since then, the Society has been serving all Palestinians, with a special focus on marginalized groups”, he said.
The fun day included face-painting activities and the distribution of gifts to children receiving dialysis and cancer treatments. Folkloric dances were also performed by the Society’s Dabkeh troupe.
