Al-Bireh, October 7, 2019 – PRCS’ President Dr. Younis Al Khatib, his Deputy Dr. Khaled Joudeh and several heads of departments received his Excellency the Palestinian Minister of Culture, Dr. Atef Abou Seif and accompanying delegation at PRCS’ headquarters. The visit aimed at marking the Palestinian Heritage Day celebrated on the 7th of October under the banner “Our Heritage Unites Us”. A cultural event was held to this end at the Society’s Total Communication School for the Hearing-Impaired.
Al Khatib welcomed the Minister and underlined the importance given by PRCS to Palestinian heritage which he described as the glue that unites Palestinians with their history, culture and national identity. It also binds all Palestinians, both in Palestine and the diaspora. PRCS believes that art and crafts’ production by persons with disabilities and disadvantaged groups is a top priority as it enables them to earn a living, he said.
Mr. Abou Seif said that heritage unites Palestinian communities and promotes national cohesion. “Heritage is the intangible identity carried by all Palestinians, guiding them and strengthening their steadfastness. Palestinians will continue telling the story of their just cause via their art and culture”, he said. Speaking about this particular event at PRCS’ Total Communication School, he added: “PRCS is the humanitarian parliament of all Palestinians. It accompanies Palestinians and serves them in the homeland and in refugee camps both in Palestine and the diaspora”.
During this event, various cultural forms and expressions of Palestinian heritage were showcased. The event concluded with dabkeh dances by the Total Communication Schools’ dabkeh troupe.
