Department of Special Education for Children with Intellectual Disabilities
The association is concerned with developing the capabilities of children with intellectual disabilities aged 4-16 years in various social, motor, mental, psychological, artistic, sports and other programs where children are evaluated and individual and collective plans are developed that are implemented with children, their parents and society.
The association operates 11 day centers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (Jenin, Tubas, Nablus, Anabta, Jericho, Hebron, Tarqumia) and in the Gaza Strip (Al-Amal City, Khan Younis, Rafah, Jabalya) specialized in people with intellectual disabilities.
The department supervises several daily programs that are implemented in day centers, including the pre-vocational rehabilitation program and the vocational skills program.
• Pre-vocational training
The pre-vocational rehabilitation program is an important part of the rehabilitation process, which aims to develop physical, mental, social and professional capabilities and direct energies at work, as well as contribute to the process of integrating people with disabilities into society and enabling them to withstand and be self-reliant in all fields.
• Vocational Skills Program
It receives persons with disabilities from the age of 17 years who are able to integrate into the professional field by training them and bringing them to a level that enables them to practice special professional skills (sewing, carpentry, bamboo, straw, glass painting, and maintenance of assistive tools) as this program is implemented in the city of hope in Khan Younis / Gaza Strip.
