PRCS calls upon the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) to carry out their responsibilities through using their good offices to provide needed humanitarian assistance and protection for civilians.

The intensive Israeli air attacks on Gaza strip continues leading to bout 300 deaths and 1000 casualties 200 of them seriously wounded. Among those civilians whose suffering has increased tremendously from the horror of shelling and continuous embargo for the last months, resulting in a shortage of fuel, medicine and foodstuffs

The suffering of the wounded has been aggravated as a consensus of inability of prompt evacuation from the scene and provision appropriate medical care

The Palestine Red Crescent society expresses its deep concern from the Israeli statements affirming the continuous and expansion of the military operation in the Gaza strip. If happens, inevitably, Gaza strip will witness more causalities and mass destruction of property and infrastructure in the light of the Israeli refraining from abiding to the international humanitarian law which prevent targeting the civilians and their properties and the use of excessive force, and the declaration that no quarter will be given, that was demonstrated in targeting and killing great number of the police force who are dedicated to maintain public order.

The indiscriminate attack in the area of PRCS quarters resulted in tremendous material loss in the hospitals, emergency centers and the administrative building, in addition to three vehicles including an ambulance.

PRCS warns from the seriousness of what's happing and the consequences of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and calls upon the international community represented in the Security Council, and the United Nations General Assembly, and the states parties to the Geneva Conventions to meet their legal responsibilities to take all required measures to force Israel to adhere to the rules of international humanitarian law in particular those relating to the protection of civilians.
