The PRCS takes the first place in a poll on leading Palestinian organization

Al Bireh (27 12010), The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) takes the first place in a poll on Palestinian leading organizations organized by Ma’an News Network on its web site. The award was received by Mr. Sameeh Abu Aisha, PRCS’s Secretary General, in a ceremony held in Ramallah with the attendance of various political, social, public and media figures.

424,000 individuals from inside and outside Palestine participated in the poll. Voters from inside Palestine were 296,000 amounting to about 70 percent of the total vote. Other voters were from 120 countries around the world, most of them from Egypt, Jordan, and the USA.

The poll’s results show that the PRCS and Al Quds Open University shared the first place followed by Al Najah University, the Islamic Society, and the Agriculture Relief.

It is worth noting that the PRCS, in the year of 2009, has been awarded the Yasser Arafat Prize for Achievement, the Best Practice Award handed to community based service providers for persons with disabilities, in addition to the Henry Davison award for outstanding humanitarian services given by the IFRC.
