The French Consul General Lays the Cornerstone for the reconstruction project ofAl-Quds Hospital in Gaza
Wednesday, 17 Feb. 2010: In an official ceremony marking the start of the reconstruction of PRCS Al Quds Hospital in the Gaza Strip, the French Consul General in Jerusalem, Frédéric Desagneaux, has laid the cornerstone of this project which aims at renovating parts of the hospital the reception, the emergency section and the laboratory with a total cost of 2 million Euros.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Khader Abu- Sha'ban, Head of PRCS branch in Gaza, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Madhoun, the Administrative Director of the Al-Quds Hospital, and Mr. Hervé Conan, the Director of the French Agency for Development.
In his speech at the ceremony, Consul Desagneaux has pledged to follow up closely the coordination with the Israeli authorities to facilitate the delivery of material and equipments necessary for the reconstruction of the hospital.
On the other hand, Mr. Abu- Sha'ban has appraised the French efforts excreted to support the Palestinian people. He explained that in addition to the renovation and reformation of a number of the hospital's sections, the French government will secure various medical equipments so as to enhance the quality of services provided to people.
It is worth mentioning that both France and Qatar are sharing the process of the rehabilitation of the hospital after being destroyed in January 2009 during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
