On 16 March 2010, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) held a one day workshop on Palestinian Sign Language, targeting eleven policemen from the Jericho Police Department.
This workshop is the first of its kind in the occupied Palestinian Territory and is part of mutual cooperation between the PRCS Jericho Branch and the Jericho Police Department. It was specifically designed for traffic and border police so they may learn basic sign language in order to better serve and communicate with the deaf.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Mr. Maher Al-Natour, Director of Rehabilitation and Ability Development Department at PRCS, and Sergeant Mahmoud Salah Al-Din distributed certificates to workshop participants.
