A joint delegation from the Syrian Red Crescent and civil organizations visits PRCS/Gaza

A large delegation comprising representatives from the Syrian Red crescent Society as well as several Syrian civil and grassroots organizations including the Orders of doctors and architects as well as the Teachers’ Union visited PRCS/Gaza on 25 September 2010.

In his welcoming address, Dr. Khaled Joudeh, PRCS General Director in Gaza addressed his thanks and appreciation to the President and people of the Syrian Arab Republic for their quick response to the needs of Gaza hospitals. The delegation had indeed provided PRCS with 45 tons of medicine and medical supplies to be distributed to Gaza Strip hospitals.

Mr. Marwan Abdallah, Director General of the Syrian Red Crescent Society, confirmed that this urgent assistance provided by the Syrian people aims at supporting the steadfastness of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. “This assistance includes 600 tons of food items and 45 tons of medicine and medical supplies”, he said.

The delegation had arrived last Saturday through the Rafah crossing point, where it was received by Mr. Omar Al Azayza, PRCS’ Administrative Manager.
