PRCS hospitals in Lebanon equipped with water treatment plants as well as with state-of-the-art equipment

(Lebanon, 17-2-2011): In cooperation with Première Urgence, PRCS/Lebanon recently equipped PRCS hospitals in Lebanon with water treatment plants operating according to international standards: Impurities are first removed from water and its salinity is controlled; water is then purified through the emission of UV rays. Several teams have been trained to maintain and to operate these plants which fall within development projects implemented by PRCS in its Lebanon hospitals.

Moreover, in cooperation with the Belgian Red Cross, PRCS/Lebanon developed and equipped PRCS laboratories with latest equipment including blood extraction, separation and storage tools. It also trained laboratory staff by means of intensive training courses targeting them with view to enhancing their capacities. Modern equipment was also installed in PRCS Al Hamshari, Haifa, Al Nassera, Safad and Balsam hospitals.

In this vein, Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon Mr. Johan Verkammen, inaugurated the first state-of-the-art laboratory in Al Hamshari hospital in Ein Al Hilwa Camp near Sidon. Mr. Verkammen was accompanied by Dr. Salah Al Ahmad, member of PRCS Executive Committee and Head of its Medical Services, Dr. Khalil Faramawi, member of the Executive Committee and Dr. Diyab Al Awad, Director of the Hospital. A detailed presentation was made on services provided by the hospital and the health conditions of Palestinians in Lebanon.

At the end of the visit, Mr. Verkammen assured that his country shall continue to provide support to PRCS.
