(Algeria, 17-07-2011):During his visit to the Algerian capital, the President of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, Dr. Younis Al Khatib, received a grant of 2.5 million dollars, as part of the support provided by the Algerian people to the Palestinians.
Mr. Haj Hamu Bin Zakir, President of the Algerian Red Crescent Society handed the the grant to Dr. Al Khatib, during a ceremony held at the Algerian Broadcasting Corporation Headquarters. The ceremony was attended by several representatives from both the Palestine RC and the Algerian RC, in addition to the Palestinian Ambassador to Algeria, H.E. Amb. Hussein Abdul Khaliq.
Besides, Mr. Bin Zakir announced the launching of the Adoption Project, where Algerian families will be adopting children of Palestinian Martyrs and detainees. He said: “Each Algerian family who wishes to adopt a Palestinian child will be spending 105,000 Algerian Dinars annually.”
Moreover, Dr. Al Khatib valued the Algerian support that will contribute to the reconstruction of Al Quds Hospital, where Algeria would be funding the Ophthalmology Section, “Abdul Qader Al Jaze’ri Section”, in addition to providing it with the various medical supplies and equipment.
On his part, H.E. Amb. Abdul Khaliq appreciated the continuous Algerian support to the Palestinians, and praised the unique relationship between the Algerians and the Palestinians.
