(Gaza – 27112012): PRCS President Dr. Younis Al Khatib received at PRCS/Cairo a delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent Society. Headed by the Society’s Secretary General Mr. MohamadAteeq Al Falahi, the delegationwas on its way to the Gaza Strip to support humanitarian efforts there. The meeting discussed means to enhance cooperation between the two Societies with view to facing the consequences of Israel’s attack on the Strip.
Upon arrival to the Gaza Strip, the delegation was received by Dr. KhaledJoudeh, PRCS Director General. This visit is part of coordination and cooperation efforts between PRCS and local, regional and international bodies.
Mr. Joudeh thanked the delegation as well as the UAE in general for its show of solidarity with Palestinians. “Efforts by our Arab brothers help ensure the steadfastness of Palestinians”, he said.Aid provided by the UAE included food and relief items as well as medicine and hygiene products to be distributed to populations affected by the latest Israeli attack on the Strip.
In the same vein, Dr. Joudeh met with a delegation from the Algerian Medical Union which visited PRCS branches affected by the Israeli attack as well as destroyed homes and injured Palestinians in hospitals. The delegation witnessed the destruction to private and public properties caused by Israel’s shelling of the Gaza Strip.
“Our gratitude goes to the Algerian people for its support and efforts to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians, especially those affected by the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip”, Dr. Joudeh said.
Dr. HamadiMohamad, chair of the Algerian delegation which comprises six doctors, underlined his country’s support for Palestinians and said that this visit is part of constant coordination and cooperation efforts with PRCS with a view to providing the best humanitarian services possible.
“We have visited several areas in the Strip and have noted their needs which we will try to cover. We also value the great role played by PRCS’ medical and EMS teams during Israel’s latest attack on the Strip”, he said.
